Privacy Policy
Padel Pal is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in the app. This website counts page views without cookies and without identifying anyone, which is described under Website analytics below.
What stays on your device
Match scores, player names, statistics, and history are stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch. They sync between your own devices using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and are not sent to our servers.
Live sharing
If you choose to use the optional "Go live" feature, the current match state (scores, set results, and the team or player names you entered) is sent to Firebase Realtime Database (a Google service) so spectators with your match link can follow along. This data:
- is only transmitted while you are actively sharing;
- is reached through a random match code, not through anything that identifies you;
- is stamped with an anonymous device ID. The first time you tap "Go live", the app signs in anonymously to Firebase to obtain one. It is not an account: there is no email address, no password, nothing to sign into, and it is never linked to your name or to anything you have told us. Its only job is to make sure that no one else can overwrite the score on a match you are sharing. You can delete it, and everything you have shared, with Settings › Clear All Data;
- is removed when the match or event ends or you stop sharing. League season links are the one exception: they are designed to stay live between matchdays, so their data (team names, results, standings) remains until the season ends or you stop sharing it.
Avoid entering names in the app that you would not want spectators with the link to see. Spectator pages are served with a noindex instruction and are excluded in robots.txt, so a shared link should not turn up in search results, but treat any link you hand out as public. Firebase's handling of data is described in Google's privacy policy.
Reporting a live page
Every spectator page carries a "Report this page" link, and the app has the same route at Settings › Report a live link. If someone has put an offensive name on a page you have been sent, tell us and we will take it down. You do not need the app to report a page.
Health data
On Apple Watch, Padel Pal can start a workout session while you score so the app stays visible during play. Workout data is handled by Apple HealthKit on your device under your HealthKit permissions; we never receive it.
Padel Pal Pro
Scoring is free. Padel Pal Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store, and the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your billing address, or the email address on your Apple Account.
- Your subscription status is checked on your device against the App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework. It is not sent to us, and we run no purchase server of our own.
- We keep no record of who has subscribed. Apple gives us sales and subscription figures in App Store Connect, and those are aggregated totals that cannot identify an individual customer.
- A free trial works the same way. Starting one, or letting it lapse, tells us nothing about you.
- Managing, pausing, or cancelling a subscription happens in your Apple Account settings, which you can reach from Settings › Manage in the app. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Website analytics
This applies to the padelpal.co website only. The Padel Pal app itself contains no analytics or tracking code of any kind, and nothing described in this section runs on your phone or watch.
So that we know whether anyone is finding the site, every page here (including spectator pages) loads Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is a deliberately minimal, privacy-first page counter:
- it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so there is nothing to consent to and nothing to clear;
- it creates no identifier for you, which means it cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you to any other website;
- it does not record query strings, so the match code in a spectator link you have been sent is never collected;
- what we see is aggregate only: how many times a page was loaded, roughly where in the world visitors were, which browser and device type they used, which site linked to us, and how quickly pages loaded. None of it can be traced back to a person.
Cloudflare processes this on our behalf and not for its own purposes. Their handling is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. We chose this over Google Analytics precisely so that visiting the site does not mean being tracked.
What we don't do
- No accounts or profiles, and nothing to sign up for
- No advertising or ad identifiers
- No analytics or tracking code in the app, no cookies or cross-site tracking on the website, and we never sell data to anyone
- No mailing list, and no marketing email. We have no way to contact you about your subscription or anything else
